The Trump Administration has made coming to the United States very difficult by putting restrictions on who may enter the United States from a foreign country.  Of course the administration wants to restrict the possibility of foreigners with COVID 19 from entering the United States but the restrictions also fall in line with Trumps persistent policy to limit legal immigration and non-immigrant workers entering the United States even if they have already been approved to enter the United States.  The exemption lifts the obstacles to entry for professional athletes who compete in professional sporting events organized by certain leagues.   The exemption also applies to essential staff, team and league leadership, spouses, and dependents.  The sports that are named in the exemption include the MLB, NBA, PGA Tour, NHL, ATP and the WTA.   The team leagues contact the Department of Homeland Security directly to request the accomodations.
